Wolves at Dusk

There is a funny verse in Habakkuk 1:8 NIV that says: “Habakkuk 1:8 NIV   —   Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves at dusk.  Their cavalry gallops headlong;  their horsemen come from afar.”

The phrase, “Fiercer than wolves at dusk” arrested me. We are in a strange time, times so terrifying and yet we all walk around like a bunch of “Stepford Wives” (did you ever see that movie?) We prefer to bury our heads in the sand and gloss over the atrocities that are happening in the world today. The countries where no freedom exists, where children are sold as sex slaves or just into slavery.

I have asked myself WHY? Is it that we wish to remain in our “nothing will disturb me bubble” or do we think that we are another voice crying in the wilderness? I guess for me if we could have many voices all crying out at once we could have a crescendo of sound that would reach to the heavens. At the risk of being a cliché ‘one match creates light in the dark’.

So today won’t you think about the disadvantaged, the poor, the hopeless for one moment and then perhaps raise your voice to the heavens – because you see, the wolves prowl around at dusk

Love you always
